The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Rescue Bazz - Mired in Muck Walkthrough

By
Nathan Garvin

While exploring Hyrule Kingdom, Link will run into various denizens who have troubles. Some side quests are mundane to the point of triviality while others are dangerous and complex, but most are worth completing for the rewards you get. This page will cover the side quest Mired in Muck in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

You’ll find Bazz stuck in the muck near Upland Zorana Skyview Tower.

How to Start Mired in Muck in Tears of the Kingdom

You’ll almost certainly stumble upon this side quest while you’re trying to compete Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. Scale the mountain to reach this tower; you can find some sky rocks to the south that you can use to glide to or close to the tower, otherwise you’ll have to ascend on foot, watching out for muck as you walk and climb up the mountain. If you can find the "Upland Zorana Byroad" iconUpland Zorana Byroad cave southwest of the tower or the "Upland Zorana Summit Cave" iconUpland Zorana Summit Cave sout hof the tower, you can use "Ascend" iconAscend within these caves to tunnel up the mountain, speeding things up considerably.

However you manage it, make your way to the stairs along the western edge of the tower, where you’ll find Bazz stuck in some muck. Talk to him and he’ll ask you to free him, instructing you to find some water.

(1 of 3) To free Bazz, you’ll need water - nearby Splash Fruit will suffice.

How to Free Bazz from the Muck

Fortunately there are at least two cheap, easy and convenient ways to free Bazz. Follow the cliffs south and you should find a "Splash Fruit" iconSplash Fruit bush. Splash Fruit will explode with a burst of water when thrown, but there’s another option nearby. Continue south and you may run afoul of a small "Chuchu" iconChuchu, which will drop "Chuchu Jelly" iconChuchu Jelly when defeated. Both Chuchu Jelly and Splash Fruit create a watery explosion when thrown, so once you have either hand, make your way back to Bazz, then hold down the Joy-Con-R button to start throwing your weapon, press Joy-Con-DPad-Up on the dpad to select an item - in this case either of the aforementioned items - then let go of Joy-Con-R when you’ve selected the item you wish and are aiming at Bazz.

Freed from the muck, Bazz will complain about the foul, lingering effects of the exposure before opting to reward you by giving you his "Zora Spear" iconZora Spear. If you can’t carry any more weapons, Bazz will hold onto the spear until you have space, but the quest will not be marked complete until you accept your reward.
