You can find plenty of items in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, although not all items are created equal. One of the more sought after items is the Diamond, as it has a high resale value and can be used in a variety of ways, like attaching it to weapons or even needed to get some weapons and armors.
So, why do you want Diamonds in Tears of the Kingdom? Well, for one, each one can sell for 500 Rupees to any of the merchants in the game, which is a lot of money. In addition to that, fusing a Diamond to any weapon will add an additional 25 attack power to it, meaning even a basic stick can be a decent weapon, in a pinch. There’s also a few pieces of armor that require this rare resource in order to upgrade them. One last thing that Diamonds are good for is constructing the Champion weapons, which requires you to finish that respective portion of the Regional Phenomena main quest. These weapons are quite strong and usually with higher durability, meaning they are great to use.
Where to Find Diamonds in Tears of the Kingdom¶
There are a myriad of ways to get Diamonds in the game, ranging from finding them in chests, to farming them from enemies, and even just outright buying them from a vendor.
Break Rare Ore Deposits¶
One of the more obvious ways to get ore in the game is from Ore Deposits. These are found all over the map, out in the open and a lot more often in the various caves you can visit. There are two types of deposits, though, the normal ones and the Rare Ore Deposits. The latter have a goldish sparkle to them, so it’s a lot easier to notice when looking at them. The rare deposits will drop things like Rubies, Sapphires, and even Diamonds. Of course, the ores you actually get from the rare deposits are random, so you aren’t guaranteed them.
Defeat Rare Stone Taluses¶
Another method in obtaining Diamonds is to defeat the Stone Talus (Rare) boss enemy. You don’t know which ones are rare versions, as their name will just pop up as Stone Talus upon coming to life. However, the ore node on its back will be sparkling with the same as the rare node, so that is the one way to tell if you got one or not. You can have an easier time defeating them by using Recall to return the boulders it throws at you. This should instantly stun them, giving you a brief moment to climb on the back to strike the ore node.
Loot Diamonds from Chests¶
There’s a large number of chests that can be found in the world of Tears of the Kingdom, with a large variety of items in them. Some of those chests can even contain the coveted Diamond, but this is like finding a needle in a haystack. However, there are some shrines that actually yield the Diamond as a reward in the chest at the end, which are usually the ones involving something harder to do to make the shrine appear, like a quest or puzzle. The following is a list of shrines that have a Diamond as the reward:
- Ganos Shrine
- Jinodok Shrine
- Jochi-ihiga Shrine
- Joku-u Shrine
- Maoikes Shrine
- Mayaotaki Shrine
- Sakunbomar Shrine
- Yomizuk Shrine
Where to Buy Diamonds in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Yep, you can actually purchase Diamonds in the game, but they are not cheap at all. There is only one place where this can be done, which is in Goron City. They’re pretty much out in the open, so it’s not hard to find the shop with them. Each Diamond costs 1,000 Rupees each, which is definitely costly, but should you need them in a pinch, it’s always worth to grab them. Note that only three will be sold at a time, so you would need to go elsewhere (maybe rest to another day), then come back to get more.
