The Great Sky Island is the very first area you’ll be able explore in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Here you’ll be taught the basics, such as crafting rafts, cooking and how to use the new devices. This page will navigate you through the necessary steps to reaching the In-isa Shrine, which is the recommended second shrine in this tutorial area.
How to Reach The Second Shrine¶
Once you’ve completed the Ukouh Shrine you’ll now have the option to use the Ultrahand Ability out in the open world which means getting around will be slightly easier. You’ll now want to stand towards the edge of the platform and bring out your scope by pressing in , then look for the shrines in the distance. Doing this will allow you to pin them on your map, so you know you’re traveling in the right direction. You now have a choice of going to either the In-Isa Shrine or the Gutanbac Shrine, but it is recommended that you go to the In-Isa Shrine first.
How to Use Rails in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Head back down the spiral stairs and go up the stairs on the opposite side of the river. Here you’ll find multiple hooks and wooden planks scattered on the floor which you can use to make a platform that you can use to ride the rails. So, activate your new Ultrahand Ability and pick up a hook, then rotate it so the circular part is at the top. Now attach it to the top of a wooden plank, then hook it onto the rail. However, be ready to jump onto the platform otherwise it’ll go without you!
How to Build Platforms in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Once you’ve reached the island below you’ll notice that the bridge on the left is currently broken, so you’ll need to create your own platform to get across. You can do this by equipping the Ultrahand Ability and picking up the logs then sticking it beside another log to attach it. From here, attach two more logs at the end of it to make it longer, then you can use it to cross the gap.
If you need more logs to make the platform wider or longer, then you can chop down the nearby by trees by equipping an Axe and slashing away at it by pressing the button. After the platform has been built, pick it up using Ultrahand and place it in the gap, so you can safely cross.
How To Hunt in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Head across the intact bridge, then speak with the Ranger Construct who teaches you about Hunting. To do this you’ll want to pick up the Old Wooden Bow and Arrows, then crouch by pressing in the button. Slowly walk towards the prey, then hold to equip the Bow. Finally, aim at the prey and release the button to shoot. Doing this will be useful for collecting ingredients for food whilst exploring.
How to Cook in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Once you’re done hunting, swim across the river to the southwest, then enter the ruins and speak with the Culinary Construct to learn about cooking. Whilst exploring Hyrule you may require different types of food that give you specific status effects, so you can explore certain areas. You can do this by approaching a lit Campfire, then opening up your inventory and choosing the “Hold” option on anything you wish to cook.
After you’ve selected your desired ingredients, exit the menu and stand next to the fire to bring up the cook option. If you wish to know more about cooking then checkout our How to Cook in Tears of the Kingdom page. Next up, head southwest from the Culinary Construct and you’ll see a small waterfall. Drop down to the area below to reach a large lake.
How to Create a Raft in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to swim across to the island on the opposite without drowning, so you’ll need to create yourself a raft to get across. Thankfully, there are some logs and a sail which you can use to build one. Simply, attach two logs to the side of each other, then place the sail on top. Place it into the water, then quickly jump on and you’ll be blown across. If you wish to know more about building a raft, then checkout our How to Build Rafts in Tears of the Kingdom page. Finally, follow the path around and head up the stairs, then interact with the seal to begin the In-isa Shrine!
