There are a ton of quests around Eldin in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom. The Abandoned Miner involves a search and rescue mission for a missing Goron. Finding Mota can be a bit annoying though if you don’t know where to look, and even after he’s located you need to free him from the cave. The guide below goes over where to find !Mota and how to get him out of the tunnel in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.
How to Find Mota at Death Mountain¶
When you are around the Death Mountain mining site, you will hear that one of the workers has gone missing. This is !Mota, and he is currently stuck in a cave. The Abandoned Laborer won’t actually start until you find !Mota. To do this go to the Death Mountain West Tunnel. Be sure to use heat-resistant armor or food, as the cave is hot. Once inside you will see a broken mine cart track that leads over a pool of lava. Use the wall to climb over the pool, and you should easily spot !Mota. He is sitting on the ground and speaking with him will trigger the quest. Your task is simple: get !Mota out of the tunnel.
You will see a mine cart nearby, use Ultrahand to place it back on the track. Right behind !Mota is a cave that’s blocked with rocks, use a weapon or Yunobo if you have him to open up the area. Inside you will find a treasure chest in the ground, use Ultrahand to get it out and inside is a Boulder Breaker. You should also head into the next section of the cave as there’s a Bubbulfrog. You will also want to use Ultrahand to grab two Rockets out of the ground, then place one on each side of the mine cart. Once you’re done, speak with !Mota and tell him to try out the cart.
All you need to do now is activate the !Rockets with an arrow and !Mota should go flying out of the cave. You will need to use the wall to climb back over the mote on your own. He will stay sitting in the mine cart at the end of the track until you speak with him. For freeing him he will give you a Large Zonaite Charge completing the quest in the process.
