Due to the overwhelming number of Side Quests in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, some are naturally shorter than the others. Open the Door is one such Side Quest, where the difficulty comes more from locating the quest giver in the first place unless you know where to look. This page will fuel you with all the knowledge you need to locate and complete the Open the Door Side Quest.
You heard a man and a woman talking inside a cabin. Apparently, they’re concerned about the monsters outside and are hesitant to open up the door.
It seems like the door will stay closed as long as they can hear the monsters.
How to Begin the Open the Door Side Quest in TOTK¶
As mentioned above, finding the location of this Side Quest is the majority of the work that will go into it. If you’ve been exploring the surrounding areas of Rito Village in the Hebra region, you will most likely have already activated the Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower and uncovered the map here. Open up your map, and you’ll see Tabantha Hills a little to the northwest, with a path running west just under the text on the map.
Use the Skyview Tower to launch yourself in the air and glide on over, as you approach it, you’ll spot a lone cabin to the west. Walk over to it and interact with the door to begin the Side Quest.
How to Defeat the Monsters¶
After speaking with the residents of the cabin, you’ll learn that they’re terrified of the Bokoblins that have taken refuge at the nearby campfire outside. They remark that they won’t unlock the door until they can no longer hear them, and if you head around to the side of the cabin, you’ll spot a hole that you can peek through and spot the terrified duo.
Fortunately, this is a simple task, regardless of the state of your world, you’ll only ever have to deal with three regular Bokoblins so run over and slash away at them to clear the area fully. Once the task is complete, return to the front door and interact with it again; they’ll realize that they can longer hear the monsters and proceed to open the door for you.
As thanks for ridding them of the monster threat, they’ll hand over a Spicy Elixir, useful for preventing the extreme cold temperatures here, along with formerly teaching you how to Shield Surf, a useful technique that involves using your Shield as a sled down slippery slopes.
