The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on 12th May 2023 and it brings back some mechanics from BOTW, such as the Temperature Meter. If you didn’t play BOTW, then this may cause you some difficulty when starting out, so this page will teach you everything you need to know about increasing your cold and heat resistance.
What Increases Heat Resistance in Tears of The Kingdom?¶
In Tears of the Kingdom you’ll have a temperature meter which is located beside your map in the bottom right corner. This means that when you come across extremely cold or hot areas whilst exploring Hyrule that Link’s health will start gradually depleting if you’re properly prepared. In order to combat this you’ll need to find different types of armor that have the resistance effect or you can combine food that will temporarily give you the effect.
Where to Find Heat Resistance Armor¶
You can find Armour which has the Resistance effect from doing a variety of tasks, such as finding Chests which are scattered throughout the world, purchasing them from shops or completing Side Quests. However, if you choose to purchase them, then you’ll need to save up your Gems as they aren’t cheap. One of the best ways of acquiring gems is by mining crystal rocks you come across when exploring caves, as you can sell the ore you get from them for a large amount.
How to Make Heat Resistance Food in TotK¶
However, during the early stages of the game you won’t be able to get your hands on the armor that has resistances and throughout the game you’ll come across deserts which will require you have some kind of heat resistance. So another way of dealing with this is by making some delicious food. If you wish to make food that gives you Heat Resistance, then you want to combine something with a chilled ingredient such as Cool Safflina. Additionally, if you add multiple of these ingredients to the cooking pot, then it’ll increase the duration of the effect.
