If you want to get Lurelin back to its full glory in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, then you will need to clear out the monsters and start the Lurelin Village Restoration Project. This is a long side adventure that requires puzzle-solving skills and hunting down tons of Hylian Rice. The guide below goes over how to complete each puzzle and fully restore the town.
How to Get Hylian Rice and Logs in Lurelin Village¶
Once you drive out the monster forces, you will be able to speak with Bolson. He will tell you that he needs 20 Hylian Rice and 15 logs to start The Lurelin Village Restoration Project. Bolson won’t accept logs from the surrounding palm trees, so don’t cut these down. You will want to look at the cliff above Lurelin Village for logs. You can cut them down with an axe and use Ultrahand to stick them together. Just be careful, as there are some trees that are actually Evermeans. In addition to trees, the area around Lurelin Village is rich in tall grass. When it’s cut, there is a chance for Hylian Rice to drop.
You can also get five Hylian Rice from the Hateno Village or the Zora’s Domain General Store in East Necluda. In addition to this, Lookout Landing’s General Store also may be selling the Hylian Rice, as well as various other stores, depending on if you have cleared the region’s temple or not. It’s honestly easier to buy what you can from the areas you have unlocked and cut the grass around Faron to get Hylian Rice for free.
Once you have the Hylian Rice, grab your pile of logs. Using a wagon or Zonai device makes them much easier to move and bring them back to Bolson at the center of Lurelin Village. If the logs are close enough, a speech bubble will pop up over Bolson’s head about smelling fresh wood. When you speak to Bolson, give him the rice, and he will proceed with the project. Bolson will give you the choice of which area of the village you want to work on first.
- The Inn
- The Restaurant
- The Lucky Treasure Shop
- Arme’s House
- The Chief’s House
These can all be done in any order, by the houses. The Lucky Treasure Shop and the Restaurant all feature the same puzzle type, so you may want to save them for last. In addition to the reward for the main adventure, repairing each of these locations will grant you a small reward from their owners, and once Lurelin is complete several side quests will open up, including one that unlocks a new mini-game.
How to Restore The Inn in Lurelin Village¶
The Inn is a large boat in the center of town. Don’t worry about finding it, though. When you tell Bolson you want to repair a building, he will automatically move you there. The Inn has become filled with water, and due to the damage, it can’t be drained through the front door due to floating debris. Chances are high that it might be raining so slow climb until you are about halfway up the ship and then jump up to reach the top. Once you are up there, you will see a floating wall and two floating logs.
Use Ultrahand to throw the logs outside of the ship and then jump down on top of the wood wall. You will want to use Ultrahand again to pick up the wood at the very bottom of the Inn. Once this is done, climb back up on the edge of the ship and throw the wooden wall overboard, Bolson will now automatically drain the Inn without you having to talk to him. You will get five Voltfruit for your trouble.
How to Restore The Lucky Treasure Shop, Restaurant, and Houses in Lurelin Village¶
The next place you will want to go is the Lucky Treasure Shop. It’s another ship-shaped building in town, but this time it’s on the east side. Bolson will automatically take you there and tell you that it used to have a palm tree growing out of the pot on its roof. He will instruct you to get a palm tree log that is straight. This will be the pattern for the rest of the buildings. There will be a palm tree right beside you without a curve going up to its leaves. Cut it down. You will now want to use Ultrahand to place it on the second level of the shop and use Ascend to get there yourself. Once you are on the second floor, use Ultrahand to spin the tree and lower it down into the pot.
You are going to follow this same pattern for the restaurant and the two houses, only this time, you will be using a hole in the center of the destroyed building instead of a pot. There are greats that you can use to get a vantage point beside each location, but the easiest way to complete these puzzles is by using a Hover Stone. After completing each location, you will be awarded items such as Rupees, Bomb Flowers, Armored Porgy, and a Tough Seafood Fried Rice.
When all five locations have been completed, a cutscene will play where everyone in Lurelin Village celebrates with Link. Your ultimate reward for completing this quest is free stays at the Inn, daily free food from the restaurant, and a daily free game at the Lucky Treasure Shop. This deal is something you won’t be able to take advantage of anywhere else in Hyrule.
